Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex extractive metallurgical processes.
  • Conduct detailed metallurgical test work analysis, pilot plant design, and scale-up evaluations from a remote perspective.
  • Provide expert technical support and guidance on metallurgical challenges to various project teams worldwide.
  • Evaluate and recommend innovative technologies and process improvements to enhance recovery, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Develop process flowsheets, mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, feasibility studies, and metallurgical case studies.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and research institutions using virtual communication tools.
  • Ensure metallurgical designs align with safety, environmental, and economic objectives.
  • Mentor and guide junior metallurgical engineers and technical staff remotely.
  • Stay abreast of global trends and advancements in extractive metallurgy and the broader Mining industry.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in Extractive Metallurgy.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in metallurgical engineering, with a significant focus on process development and optimization in the Mining industry.
  • Extensive expertise in various extractive metallurgical techniques (e.g., leaching, precipitation, solvent extraction, ion exchange, electrowinning) for a range of commodities.
  • Proven experience with metallurgical process modeling and simulation software.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects and deliver results in a remote setting.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in virtual collaboration tools.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively across different time zones.
  • Understanding of environmental considerations and sustainable practices in metallurgical processes.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for key project meetings or site visits when necessary.
