The candidate will be responsible for leading the GIS-Remote Sensing & Database Division in developing and monitoring AFOLU carbon projects under international standards. The candidate will provide technical and project-based leadership to ensure successful delivery of projects from concept to implementation. The key Roles and Responsibilities under this position are:

  • (Technical) Analytics, Project Management and Quality Assurance:
  • Take the lead in performing GIS-RS analyses on satellite data, and developing spatial solutions for GIS-RS components in support of evaluation of project opportunities, project development, Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) process. This includes geo-referencing, calibration, image processing and analysis, feature extraction, and the land cover/land use analysis, change detection, spatial modelling.   • Stay current with the latest advancements in remote sensing technology, software, and geological applications.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for exploration projects and resource evaluation.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and proper documentation of all remote sensing analyses.
  • Foster innovation and efficiency in the application of remote sensing techniques within the exploration department.
Qualifications:
  • MSc or PhD in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field with a strong specialization in Remote Sensing or Geoinformatics.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in mineral exploration, with at least 5 years focused on remote sensing applications.
  • Proven expertise in processing and interpreting various forms of remote sensing data using industry-standard software (e.g., ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Strong understanding of geological principles, mineral systems, and exploration geochemistry.
  • Experience with programming languages like Python for data analysis and automation is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage complex projects remotely.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a distributed team environment.
  • Experience with machine learning and AI applications in remote sensing for geological mapping is a significant advantage.
