We are now searching for a Head of Quality, an experienced professional to lead our Quality department to the next level across the Asia region.

Mission:

The Head of Quality is responsible for setting a quality management program for ensuring quality, efficiency, accuracy, reliability and compliance of the company's activities and outputs. The Head of Quality will set up parameters and measurement tools, and will analyze the processes of implementation. The Head of Quality will propose performance targets to MD as well as providing process and analytical support for improvements and the development of effective corrective actions.

This function will provide leadership, management and control over the Quality Management Systems (QMS), the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) and the Information Security Management System (ISMS); support each department to ensure that appropriate systems and implementation are in place that it achieve its objectives relating to Quality performance; ensure compliance with the company's standards by developing and conducting sustainability program including Internal Audit; act as an internal consultant for ISO Implementation; provide information related to Quality standards; and propose best practices for performance development and improvement as, with training and coaching of related parties and stakeholders.

This role is based in Jakarta and is responsible for Quality throughout the Asia region. The role reports directly to the Managing Director, and has 6 direct reports in Indonesia and the region.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategy; Research & Development

2. Develop company Quality strategy

3. Elaborate an annual program of projects with quarterly objectives and targets

4. Provide research on new or improved methodologies and quality management tools

5. Team Leadership, Coaching & Training

6. Lead, direct, and develop a departmental team

7. Responsible for onboarding program of departmental new hires

8. Coaching, mentoring, guiding, supervising and training of team members

9. Quality Management Program

10. Analyze business processes and job descriptions, identify issues related to quality

11. Set up quality control methodologies, parameters and KPIs per position
12. Develop a quality management program to ensure productivity and performance can be measured and meets the Company standards
13. Develop measurement and collection tools and supervise use of these tools

14. Supervise documentation related to Quality Management Program

15. Quality and Internal Control Implementation

16. Supervision of screening, proofreading & editing, and operational call monitoring activities

17. Assist business process owners to develop business processess, workflows and related materials including policies, SOP, and reports

Role Overview

The Head of Quality Excellence will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality assurance systems across Astro's hub and warehouses. This role will focus on standardisation and implementation of
product handling, storage, cold chain management and product/WMS/tools development
to ensure goods meet Astro's freshness, safety, and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, operations, and warehouse teams to minimize wastage, improve product lifecycle management, and deliver the best customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Product Quality Standards

• Define, monitor, and enforce product quality parameters (e.g., banana ripeness, water content for sprouts, freshness of perishables).
• Establish quality check protocols from receiving, storing, to last-mile dispatch.

Storage & Handling Excellence

• Develop clear guidelines for storing dry, fresh, and frozen products, including stacking rules, segregation, and shelf-life management.
• Create SOPs for handling wastage and near-expiry stock.
• Designing trial mechanism to improve handling and storage mechanism
• Establish of standard environmental parameters to be used in every point of chains

Cold Chain Process Management

• Standardize cold chain handling processes across suppliers, warehouses, and last-mile delivery.
• Ensure compliance with temperature and storage requirements at all stages.

Supplier & Inbound Quality Assurance

• Set quality acceptance standards with suppliers and commercial team, ensuring goods delivered match Astro's requirements.
• Define inbound inspection procedures and frequency of supplier shipments.

Operational Excellence & Training

• Develop and enforce Good Housing Practices (GHP) across all facilities.
• Train warehouse and hub teams on product handling and quality monitoring practices.
• Establish a culture of quality excellence within operations.

Continuous Improvement & Monitoring

• Build, assess and maintain dashboards/KPIs for product wastage, rejection rates, and quality compliance.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring quality issues.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or related field (Master's preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in
  quality assurance, food safety, or warehouse operations
  (preferably in quick commerce, FMCG, or cold chain logistics).
• Strong understanding of food quality and safety standards, cold chain logistics, and warehouse handling practices.
